CAELIN CAMERON
Caelin Cameron is a self-taught photographer from Bragg Creek, Alberta. Born and raised in the Kananaskis hamlet, Caelin has developed a passion for capturing the beauty of the majestic scenery and diverse wildlife of his home to share with others all around the world. Although wildlife is Caelin's favourite subject, he enjoys all challenges of capturing the world's beauty on film. Also an avid traveler, Caelin loves to photograph the architecture and culture of the places he has visited around the globe. Caelin shoots all of his photos in 35mm and does not use digital enhancement to edit his photos.
Caelin credits his grandfather with initiating his interest in photography at a young age. The two would enjoy time together by watching nature films, fostering his love for the natural world. Caelin also grew up reading National Geographic monthly, which educated him on subjects around the universe. As an avid outdoorsman, Caelin also credits hunting for honing his skills as a nature photographer. After much saving, it wasn't until the age of sixteen that Caelin bought his first professional camera.
After graduating high school in Springbank, Caelin spent a year living with extended family in Germany where he worked for a transport company. During this time, Caelin learned to speak German and had the opportunity to travel throughout Europe visiting cities such as Paris, Rome and Athens.
During university, Caelin took the opportunity to participate in an exchange program and spent a semester living and studying in Valparaiso, Chile. There he learned to speak Spanish while living with a Chilean host family and taking courses at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso. Caelin also traveled around South America to such awe inspiring places like Machu Picchu, Easter Island, the Atacama Desert, and Ushuaia, the southern most city in the world where visited penguin colonies. It was these travel experiences that allowed Caelin's photography to mature and further expand Caelin's repertoire and passion for the art.
Caelin is a graduate of the University of Victoria with a Bachelor's degree in Commerce. He lives in the Calgary area and is completing his Master's of Architecture degree at the University of Calgary. Caelin also enjoys ice hockey, hunting, and outdoor sports. Caelin met his wife Lauren while on exchange in Chile and were married in June in Pennsylvania.
Caelin's breakthrough into the commercial world of photography happened while working for Art Country Canada. He is currently working on developing his own website to feature his work and hopes to have it up and running by the fall of 2008.
