Barry Sanders is one of the most elite talents to ever step foot on a football field and has left a legacy at the running back position. After winning the Heisman Trophy with the Oklahoma State Cowboys, he was selected third overall by the Detroit Lions in the 1989 NFL Draft. Sanders took the NFL by storm in his rookie season, winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year in 1989. The accolades kept coming, as he won co-MVP for the 1997 season and Offensive Player of the Year twice, while being named to 10 Pro Bowls and 10 All-Pro Teams (6 First-Team and 4 Second-Team). Sanders also dominated in statistical categories, leading the league in rushing yards four different times and touchdowns one time. After his career, Sanders was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2004 before having his number retired by the Lions. He is one of the classic greats in the sport of football and will forever be known as one of the best at his position.
