Barry Sanders was inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2004 to honor his legacy as one of the greatest running backs of all time. After a record-breaking college career at Oklahoma State, he was drafted third overall by the Detroit Lions in the 1989 NFL Draft. Sanders immediately took his place as one of the top players in the league with 1,470 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns in his rookie season. That set the tone for his Hall of Fame career as he rushed for over 1,000 yards in every season while making the Pro Bowl each time. His best season came in 1997 when he set a career high of 2,053 rushing yards and also rushed for 11 touchdowns on his way to share the MVP award. Sanders left his mark in Detroit as the best player in franchise history and was honored with his number being retired. His legacy will remain as a legendary figure in the NFL.
