On October 2nd, 2019, with a packed house of over 18,000 buzzing spectators at the Oilers’ season opener,Rogers Place provided Connor McDavid
with the perfect venue for his return to the ice after surgically repairing his knee just six months prior. Defying all odds, Connor displayed true grit and courage
with this performance as many doctors thought he would be down for at least 10 months. In his season debut, McDavid showed no signs of slowing
down as he recorded over 21 minutes on ice and knocked in the game-winning goal past Canucks’ goalie Jacob Markstrom late in the third period, giving the
Oilers a 3-2 victory to start their season.
