Playing at home at Rogers Place on November 14, 2024, Connor McDavid would score his 1,000th point as part of a 3-2 overtime win for the Oilers over the Nashville Predators. The goal came from a pass on a breakaway from teammate and assistant captain Leon Draisaitl. It wouldn’t take long for McDavid to blow past 1,000 as just two periods later he would get his 1,001st point with a spinning backhand pass for an assist on teammate Darnell Nurse’s game-winning goal in overtime. It only took McDavid 58 games to go from his 900th point to his 1,000th point, becoming the fourth fastest and fourth youngest to reach 1,000 points in NHL history.
