The 2023-24 postseason saw McDavid score 42 points, which ranked as 4th best ever, trailing only Wayne Gretzky (43 in 1988), Mario Lemieux (44 in 1991), and Wayne Gretzky again (47 points in 1985). Connor McDavid will enter the 2024-25 season as captain of the Oilers for the 9th consecutive season, a franchise record.
