The NBA Slam Dunk Contest was just in its fourth year of competition when Michael Jordan took on Jerome Kersey, Clyde Drexler, Tom Chambers and Ron Harper in 1987. It was MJ’s first foray into the competition, and it was legendary. His Airness brought a cradle dunk, a pair of kiss the rim dunks, a powerful reverse clutch dunk and this one: his classic free throw line dunk that he would famously duplicate next year in the competition in Chicago.
This classic dunk that led to Jordan’s victory in the event is captured beautifully in this black and white designed sequence piece. Jordan has autographed this limited edition (123) “We Have Liftoff” 36” x 18” designed image in silver paint pen. His signature is deemed authentic by virtue of Upper Deck Authenticated’s Five-Step Process.
