Andy Thomas is not only an immensely talented painter,

matter consists of a variety of images from historical events to
intimate moments of everyday life. The artist’s desire to create
is funneled into the area of painting realism that ranges from
very loose to very tight. Thomas’s medium is primarily oil, but he
also works in watercolor, pen and ink, charcoal, pencil, and ink
wash. He is also a very accomplished sculptor.

" BOOM TOWN "
Andy Thomas

95 s/n Giclee Canvas 30" x 40" $1195
250 s/n Giclee Canvas 21" x 28" $450
350 s/n Paper 21" x 28" $195

The third release in Thomas' Boom Town Series, this piece shows all
the hustle and bustle of a town teeming with activity. The derricks are
both a back drop and an integral part of the town. Over night, literally
hundreds of men seeking work on the oil rigs would invade a town.
Often, with the shortage of beds, they would erect tent cities on the
outskirts of a town. During the day, horses, wagons and cars would
share the streets and at night, theaters and saloons would offer the
needed relaxation to the men who had come for work and adventure.

500 s/n Giclee Paper 17" x 34" $195
Giclee Canvas 8" x 16" $55
Paper 8" x 15" $16

Always the storyteller, Andy Thomas paints images that are
action-packed and gives the viewer a sense of being there. In this
colorful scene, it seems that several Old West troublemakers have
mixed a heated encounter and their liquor resulting in some
"Bad Whiskey." After demolishing the saloon, these marauders
take their last stand and ride off into the night in a cloud of dust
and gun smoke. Can the sheriff's possee be far behind in pursuit
of this wild bunch? This work is classic Andy Thomas at his best.

Giclee Canvas 12" x 9" $59
Paper 12" x 9" $29

Missouri artist Andy Thomas enjoys painting a wide variety of
subject matter. History and nostalgia are two of his favorites that combine
in this oil field scene from a century ago. Boom towns sprang up over
night attracting hundreds in search of Black Gold. This particular painting
is a study in light and shadow as the foreground in shadow contrasts
beautifully with the wooden derricks in the sunlight.

Andy Thomas Black Bart's Fleet

" BLACK BART'S FLEET "
Andy Thomas

signed Giclee Canvas 9" x 11" $150
unsigned Giclee Canvas 9" x 11" $125
signed Paper 9" x 11" $45
Paper 9" x 11" $29

"Black Bart" was born John Roberts in 1682 in Wales. Only after his death was
he commonly known as Black Bart. In his short, 30-month career, Roberts became
one of the most successful pirates during the golden age of piracy in the Caribbean.
It is estimated that Roberts and his fleet captured over 470 vessels and millions in
gold, gems, and other riches. While working on a ship that was captured, Roberts
came to the attention of the captain of the victorious ship for his abilities as a
navigator. A short while later, the captain of the ship was killed and Roberts was
voted in as the new captain by the crew. One of his first successes was against
a fleet of Portugese ships that carried a magnificent treasure of gold and gems
designed for the king of Portugal. Roberts captured many ships and prisoners
and killed many pirates during his reign on the seas. He was not as cruel to some
prisoners as some pirates, but his reputation for torturing and killing captives
was widely known. With each victory, his fleet and success continued to grow.
Roberts attacked ships of all nations, but singled out France and its colonies.
In a battle near Cape Lopez in Gabon, Black Bart was killed. Before the opposing
ship's captain could capture his body, Roberts' crew buried him at sea.

350 s/n Giclee Paper 20" x 30" $175
Giclee Canvas 10" x 15" $65

Paper 10" x 15" $29

Missouri artist Andy Thomas captures perfectly the excitement of the Buffalo
Hunt! He loves to paint the Old West and does so in the manner of Charles
Russell - lots of action and narrative. In this piece, the dark strength of the
buffalo contrasts dramatically with the white horse and its rider who want to
take the buffalo for its meat and hide. The buffalo turns to attack before he is shot
with the arrow, and we are caught at that precipitous moment.
Who knows how it will end?

Signed Paper 11" x 14" $35

Andy Thomas is one of today's most recognized painters of Western scenes,
and his images are considered classics in his genre. In this release, several
cowboys seem to have worn thin their welcome in town. Perhaps these
renegades started a fight in the local saloon. To escape the guns aimed at
them, these troublemakers charge ahead leaving a swirl of dust,
taking their last shots as they retreat.

"Amazing. An African-American runs for President, not as a “Civil Rights” candidate
but as an American, gets elected and his skin color seemed not to matter to the
voters. Only in America."But, before that could happen, John Jay fought against
slavery, Harriet Tubman led the helpless to freedom, Frederick Douglas
influenced Abe Lincoln, FDR stood up for the forgotten, Martin Luther King, Jr.
inspired us, JFK and LBJ took action, Thurgood Marshall argued his case, Rosa
Parks stayed in her seat and Medgar Evers and little girls in Birmingham died.
Andrew Young, Edward Brooke, Douglas Wilder and Barbara Jordan joined
the process, Jesse Jackson orated, my friend Dino stood his ground and many,
many others did their best.

Signed Giclee Canvas 10" x 13.5" $85

Signed Paper 10" x 13.5" $35

Andy Thomas painted this piece specifically for the 2008 C.M. Russell Museum Show
and Auction. The painting (a 36" x 48" oil on canvas) sold for a record $180,000
at auction and was the "talk" of the show. Former Denver Broncos quarterback
John Elway was active in the bidding, but failed in his attempt to have the winning
bid. Just as Russell is well-known for the narrative in his paintings, Andy Thomas
is highly esteemed for his storytelling. This piece is a particularly good example.
Charlie Russell shows off his newest creation to friends at his favorite watering hole,
and his friends, all character themselves from an assortment of Russell paintings,
crowd around to admire, and maybe critique, his work.
THE TIME is the mid 1890s before Russell married Nancy. At this time, he often
sold or traded his paintings to the saloons. When married, Nancy put the artist on a new marketing path.
THE PLACE is the Mint Saloon. THE COWBOYS faces and clothing were taken from many Russell paintings. THE WOMAN came from the watercolor, "Just a Little Pleasure"THE INDIAN shows up in several Russell paintings including "Joe Kipp's Trading Post. THE CHARACTER ON THE FAR RIGHT was the shooter in his painting "The Tenderfoot".

Early in the evening the Welshman was sure he had an easy mark. He had, it was clear
to see now, underestimated the old trapper. When he had raised the pot for the big
strike the trapper had pulled yet another gold piece from his beaded pouch and called
his bluff. Those soft gray eyes peered out from under the aged lids and missed nothing,
and that put the pinch on the Welshman’s game. When the cowboys joined the table
he was sure the situation would improve since their reckless play always fattened his
pocket. Alas, the trapper seemed to inspire them to play their cards close, and now the Welshman was feeling the pressure. The cowboy called Breaker, a fair card player on most nights, was showing some real skill tonight even with the animated Pearl perched near him. Now, with the biggest pot of the evening at stake, he was holding what should be the winning hand. But then, as he scanned the table, he wasn’t sure who could be called the Mark. He smiled to himself and thought, “Perhaps it's me”.

Missouri artist Andy Thomas loves painting exciting moments in the Old West,
much in the same way that Charles Russell did. "Desperate Ride" entices the viewer
with the beginning of the tale: riders in trouble and desperate. We are left to wonder
why. Are they the good guys or the "baddies"? Will they escape or will their desperate
ride end in capture or even death? Excitement and narrative: the keystones of an
Andy Thomas painting.

This lone rider has his hands full as he frantically drives his steed ahead and
pulls his pack horses with him up the rocky terrain. With the angry grizzly about
to attack, the desperate cowboy has no time to spare in trying to escape the huge,
lunging bear. Man and horse may not be much of a match for the girzzly's ire
and strength. Let's hope the rider and his horses are faster than the bear in
this amazing scene. Andy Thomas's work has been compared to the late
Remington's for the wonderful action and stories in his images.

Our Presidents have a uniquely solitary job. They surround themselves with the
strength and wisdom of talented and experienced people, but as Harry Truman once
said, “The buck stops here.” We can hardly imagine the weight of decisions they must
bear. Perhaps that is why we are so familiar with the before and after photographs
depicting the accelerated ageing process while in office. These leaders deserve some
time to relax and unwind.

Some of the greatest times anyone can enjoy are when we can let our guard down
because we are among those who have been where we have been: people who know
the truth and don’t make harsh judgments. We can have a great time with each
other especially after the challenge has been met and the heat is off. We can talk,
commiserate and just be ourselves.
Who do former presidents hang out with? Wouldn’t it be just a great time if they
could “let their hair down” together and just have a time to laugh and remember?
Can you imagine that?

Ronald W. Reagan, beloved 40th President of the United States (1981-1989), is truly
an American icon. This all-American boy grew up and lived the American dream. From playing college football to sports announcer to movie star to Governor of California
to the greatest dream of all as President of the United States.
President Reagan loved the outdoors and relished the times he spent on his ranch
near Santa Barbara. Called Rancho del Cielo (Ranch in the Sky), this retreat conveyed
the true spirit of Reagan's practical, down-to-earth manner and his core principles:
humility, idealism, diligence, and hard work. In this wonderful portrait by Andy
Thomas, perhaps President Reagan had just finished one of his favorite activities at
his ranch such as chopping wood or riding his horse.President Reagan genuinely
loved his country and proudly told the world that he looked upon America as a great
"shining city on a hill." As the commander-in-Chief of America, Reagan boldly endorsed
a "peace through strength" policy that served and protected the world.Known as
"the great communicator," Reagan possessed an excellent speaking ability, sense
of humor, and beloved wit. Many wonderful quotes have been attributed to President Reagan; here are but a couple: "If we forget that we're one nation under god, then we
will be a nation gone under."......"Whatever else history may say about me when I'm
gone, I hope it will record that I appealed to your best hopes, not your worst fears;
to your confidence rather than your doubts. My dream is that you will travel the road
| ahead with liberty's lamp guiding you."
On June 3, 2009, Mrs. Reagan helped unveil the Ronald Reagan statue in the U. S.
Capitol. President Ronald W. Reagan passed away on June 5, 2004.

What a wild ride through the rough landscape these outlaws
are taking! With no place else to go, these men drive their horses
into the river hoping to escape the posse that must be in hot pursuit
of them. These desperados are trying to beat the odds of being captured
as they make their escape into the water. Andy Thomas's work has been
compared with the late Remington as a master storyteller in his images.
With all the color and action of a wild West scene, Thomas brings
the viewer into the story and makes his characters come alive.

In his Boomtown Series, Andy Thomas revisits the dramatic growth as oil
derricks populated grazing land in the West. In those days, trust was very important
as most business was conducted on a handshake, and a man's word was only as
good as his reputation. Thomas lives in Carthage, Missouri, and enjoys painting
many differing subjects and moods. His westerns, Desperate Ride and Buffalo Hunt,
are dramatic and filled with action while his oil scenes are peaceful and calming.
Oil Patch is particularly interesting. It is almost as if the vast array of derricks
"populate" the landscape like and become its most notable feature.

Primarily self-taught, Thomas began his professional art career in 1991 after sixteen
years with a major advertising agency. In his studio, the artist creates his unique
paintings that tell their “stories.” Thomas says, “I never consciously ponder elements of design or principals of design…I rely on my sketches to refine a value scheme as a starting point. They also help me visualize the completed painting and consider light, painting Technique, subject or object importance, and other considerations. The viewer’s eye-path
is a big influence on the composition at this point and all through the painting process.”

These cowboys know it's time to move the herd as fast as possible with threatening
skies looming behind them. They know the storm is about to overtake them and
their cattle. You can almost hear the thundering hooves as the frightened herd
moves together across the plain. Sheltering man and animal on the open range
can be a cowhand's ultimate challenge when nature displays its full fury. Andy
Thomas's work has been compared to the late Remington's for the color and
action that bring the viewer into the image.
